Find me on:

Warm weather, sunrays, and technology filled the city of Orlando, FL this week. MDSi was honored to be featured at the 2017 Enterprise Connect Expo, which, had attendance surpass 4,500 people. The conference and expo was held at the beautiful and capacious Gaylord Palms in Kissimmee, FL. The expo featured more than 190 leading technology companies providing leading enterprise solutions.

The expo held over 60+ conference sessions which covered topics

  • Mobility
  • Contact centers
  • API's
  • Communications

Enterprise Connect featured 5 keynote speakers that discussed today's technology and where the communication industry is heading. Panel discussions were held that focused around the evolution of the cloud and APIs. According to Zeus Kerravala, "Almost every company discussed what could be done with their programming interfaces. This is significant as UC is finally living up to the vision of becoming more platform than product, enabling people to use more UC functions in more applications more often. However, I do think most network engineers and telecom managers are intimidated by programming."

5G and WiFi were also discussed by panelists from companies such as AT&T, Verizon, Mitel, and Unify. The panelists pointed out that a key feature of 5G was going to be increased spectral efficiency and transmission capacity. "Creativity is endless with bigger bandwidth" said Lee Wagner, Area VP Mobility Solutions, AT&T. With the forecast predicting billions (yes billions) of IoT devices by 2020, 5G will help propel faster speed wireless communications and increased network capacity.
